Have you ever wondered how to make perfume by yourself? It’s actually very easy and with a few ingredients, you can make magic happens. It’s not expensive, it doesn’t need professional equipment and it’s fun! Whether you’re exploring for a new hobby or want to start your own perfumery, this simple beginner guide is for you.
Things you need:
- 3 grams of fragrance oil
- 7 grams of perfumers alcohol
- digital scale
- pipettes
- stirring rod
- 1.7 oz glass beaker
- 1.7 oz perfume spray container
With the size of spray bottle we are using, we will be blending 70% of perfumers alcohol and 30% fragrance oil. This ratio should give you a lingering scent.
The how to:
- Use a digital scale to ensure measurement accuracy. Place your beaker on the scale. Add 7 grams of the perfumer's alcohol to the beaker.
- Add 3 grams of fragrance oil to the beaker (divided between top, heart, and base notes according to your preference). Remember, the ratio of fragrance to alcohol is 30% to 70%.
- Gently stir your blend. And that’s it! You’ve made your own perfume.
- Using pipettes, transfer your creation to a perfume spray container. Spritz and enjoy!
Contrary to some recommendations you'll find on the Internet, never use drops to measure your recipe. Chances are, your measurement will be inconsistent. As a beginner, it’s always recommended to use a digital scale for an accurate, consistent result.
*This recipe can be easily scaled up for larger quantities. Simply adjust the amounts while maintaining the same ratio and use a larger beaker.
