Fragrance Fusion Method
To enhance your candle's olfactory profile, infuse the coconut oil with the Piña Colada fragrance oil 24 hours before candle-making. Let the infusion set in a sealed container for 24 hours. Strain the mixture before use.
Vessel Preparation
Make sure it is clean and dry. Attach the wick to the center of the vessel using a wick sticker. Thread the tip of the wick to the wick holder. This ensures the wick stays in place when pouring your melted wax.
IMPORTANT: Before pouring your melted wax, use a heat gun to warm the vessel to 110°F. This will prevent sinkholes and cracks in your wax.
Pouring Process
-
Melt the coconut soy wax to 185°F using a double boiler.
-
Let the wax cool slightly, then add the pre-infused oil blend at 180°F.
-
Stir gently for 3 minutes to ensure even distribution.
-
Cool the wax to 165°F.
-
Pour the wax into the prepared vessel at a moderate speed to ensure even distribution and avoid air bubbles. Use your glass pouring pitcher to ensure precision and avoid spills.
Curing Instructions
-
First 24 hours: Allow to cure in a warm room (75°F).
-
Next 48 hours: Cure at room temperature.
-
Final cure: Allow 7–10 days for optimal scent throw.
Special Techniques
-
Pre-infused coconut oil adds depth and richness to the fragrance.
-
Stir slowly to evenly distribute the fragrance oil into the wax.
-
For dried fruit decoration, pour the wax in stages and add the fruit between pours.
Troubleshooting Your Candle
-
Oil separation: Slightly reduce the amount of coconut oil.
-
Weak scent throw: Ensure thorough stirring and consider extending the curing time.
-
Discoloration: This is normal due to natural components in coconut oil.
-
Frosting: A common feature of coconut wax blends. Adjust the pouring temperature if excessive frosting occurs.
