Instructions
1. Preparation
Secure the wick in the center of the jar.
Pre-heat the wax container to 185°F to reduce air bubbles.
Prepare three separate pouring pitchers for each layer.
2. Layering
Bottom Layer (Sea Salt & Plum)
Heat 4.5 oz of wax to 185°F. Add deep purple/plum dye at 185°F. Cool to 175°F and add fragrance blend. Pour at 160-165°F into the jar. Allow to cool until the surface is firm but slightly tacky (around 30-45 minutes or 110-120°F). Score the surface gently with a toothpick or skewer before adding the next layer to improve adhesion.
Middle Layer (Transition)
Heat 3 oz of wax to 185°F. Add soft pink dye at 185°F. Cool to 175°F and add blended fragrance. Pour at 155-160°F over the slightly tacky bottom layer. Allow to cool until the top is firm but slightly tacky (30-45 minutes, 110-120°F). Score the surface gently before adding the next layer to improve adhesion.
Top Layer (Blushing Rose)
Heat 3 oz of wax to 185°F. Add light rose pink dye at 185°F. Cool to 175°F and add fragrance blend. Pour at 155-160°F over the middle layer. Allow the candle to cool completely (4-6 hours).
3. Curing
Let the candle cure for at least 1-2 weeks before burning for optimal scent throw. Store the candle in a cool, dark place during curing.
Additional Notes & Burn Optimization
- Layer Adhesion Improvement:
- Scoring the surface before each layer helps prevent separation.
- Pouring the middle and top layers at 155-160°F reduces shrinkage and adhesion issues.
Wick Selection:
- For 100% soy wax: ECO-10 or HPSP-76 is recommended.
- For a soy/paraffin blend: CD-18 or CD-16 may work better.
- Test burn before finalizing the wick size!
Test Burn Recommendations:
1. First burn: After 24 hours (not immediately after curing).
2. Burn for 4-hour intervals to ensure even wax pool formation.
3. If tunneling occurs: Use a slightly larger wick.
4. If excessive soot or high flame: Use a slightly smaller wick.
Expected Results
A visually stunning candle with a gradient from deep purple to soft pink. Burn time: 60-70 hours in 4-hour increments.
